Our show was suggested after visiting the January “Saxon Bash” organised by the The Saxon Stickmakers, in Sussex.

We felt we could offer a show to complement their event in our own area at the end of the year in October, and so the

“Great Dorset Do” was born in 2008.

The show has been a great success and this year it will be even better. There are side shows and continuous demonstrations, with guest speakers, a buffet lunch is included and the day ends with a raffle and auction sale of tools, timber and books.

We try to ensure the show appeals to anyone with an interest in woodworking and rural crafts but the emphasis is on stickmaking. This year we will have woodturners, crafts, woodcarvers, a whistle maker, a stick show judge, forestry worker, tool dealer, stick supplies shop, pyrographers, and other well known speakers from the stickmaking world.
